Kumar was very helpful and did great job installing my sum pump. He was friendly and very knowledgeable.

These guys are getting all my future work because I trust them. They are the second ones that I called. They walked me through some troubleshooting on the phone and then referred me to the manufacturer who was able to walk me through how to fix it without having anyone come.

The initial plumber that I called told me that he would charge me for just looking at it. He said it would be $275 for the first hour and $200 for each additional hour. He did not ask me anything about the condition of my water heater before quoting the price. Even when I asked him how much he charged, he hesitated and then started stuttering before he gave me the price.

Kumar came to our home twice and solved two problems for us, after other major companies could not. He is thoughtful and analytical. He identified the faulty part. He pointed out how we could request a free replacement for the faulty part, and this solved the longstanding problem. In another case, he spent a great deal of time testing and figuring out the issue, and solved it.
Another time he came, he reviewed the issue; he gave his advice; and he referred us to someone else to carry it all out. No charge. I tried to pay him for his time, but he declined. And just today, he worked with me by phone and texting photos and found the very simple solution (the pump had no power - a fuse was tripped). Again, no charge.

A year or two ago, I contacted distinct plumbing with a pretty urgent clogging issue (bathroom sink; I was supposed to leave town the next day, and a petsitter was due to stay). They managed to find someone who could come asap; he worked incredibly hard for a couple of hours to solve the issue without interfering with the piping, which would have cost way more and taken longer. He was professional, kind, and took time to walk me through everything he did.

Recently I contacted distinct plumbing again - a job a different plumber had done 2 years back was already starting to fail, and the original plumber hadn't been responding. Distinct jumped right into problem solving over text, for free, on a Sunday, to see if I could resolve on my own. Ultimately a replacement was needed; the original plumber finally responded and was able to remedy at a discount, so I didn't bring in distinct plumbing. However, I was so impressed with how fast they responded (on a Sunday!) and how much time they spent with me despite no guarantee of contracted work. Distinct remains my top choice plumber for both of these experiences.

Update: after my bad review, the owner calls me 3 times like a psycho and I don't answer and I block his number. WHY BECAUSE HE DOESN'T LIKE MY REVIEW?? Didn't think I would need a restraining order after looking for a PLUMBER. (Also he never mentioned anything about a free quote and all that fake stuff he said in his response.) He just got caught trying to take me a sucker but i reviewed him.

Called up this outfit for a very straightforward job. The person who answered the phone whose number is on this page, told me that it would require someone coming out to take a look at it before quoting the price.

Ran this by my tradesmen friends and they confirmed that this sounded like a con to them. And I would agree that any exceptions to the straightforward nature of this job could be answered with some follow up questions or one photo, if even needed.

Is it because a woman called you for a plumbing job? I know the trades people are sitting high and mighty these days with the economy and building but that doesn't give you an excuse to try to take advantage of women and people in general.

I had a disposal gone bad, leaking all over and Kumar texted me back immediately and the next day, came over with a new disposal and within an hour - he was done. Additionally, he drove all over to find the 3/4 horsepower model that would replace what I have.

Needed a repair on my leaking garbage disposal unit. Not only did Kumar show up within a couple of hours, but he diagnosed and fixed the problem within like 15 minutes; turns out the disposal was incorrectly installed before we moved in. He was able to repair it right then and then, saving me lots of inconvenience, potential damage and $$$. Absolutely would contact Kumar again if I need a plumber.

Was helpful in identifying the problem but not so much at fixing anything. Good people to call out for small jobs (or jobs that could be small) but don't really have the capacity to handle bigger ones.

Kumar is a genius at this...he's very quick and efficient and a great communicator. He came out on a Saturday to install a new faucet and plumbing for us. He texted all of the details and the estimates were accurate to the end. If you have any size job of any complexity, Kumar can figure it out.

It's worth noting we had another plumber come out here before Kumar who got extremely stressed out and couldn't figure out how to handle installing our faucet with the new sink which had a lower depth, meaning the plumbing had to be re-routed. At a recommendation from a friend, we called Kumar for help with our bathtub, and he not only fixed the problem we asked for, but predicted the next problem that would have happened if we had left it as-is, and took care of it at the same time. He's amazingly quick about getting necessary parts, listens to what you want, and you end up knowing more about the system you've got than when you started.

Today - at the biggest cold snap, our heat went out, and he made the time for us, went way above and beyond to get the part, and got us up and running. Then, he made sure that we knew how to take care of any other issues that were happening because of the extreme cold.

I cannot recommend Kumar enough - he's got the skills, the contacts, the speed, and apparently has the code memorized.

Kumar was great to work with. We went in with a list of potential work from our home inspector, and Kumar was very honest in what could be postponed and what was important. He worked on a tough pipe replacement job for us in a very tight spot, with patience and good attention to detail. Kumar and Angel are amazing. I was about to get a new induction stove and found out I needed to have the gas line disconnected before the delivery the next day. They were able to fit me in with very short notice and got it done quickly and professionally. They're also friendly and great at what they do. I called Kumar yesterday with a priority (but not emergency) plumbing need. He was super responsive, very clear in all his explanations, and really easy to work with. 24 hours later and our problem is already fixed. Kumar worked with the city to shut off the water, making this zero stress for us. I selected Kumar based on other Yelp reviews and do not hesitate in recommending him - we will certainly be using him again if we have another plumbing need in the future.

My shower had low water pressure since covid. We were hesitant to have anyone in the apartment last year so we waited. I contacted a couple different companies. Some never responded and others were ~250/hr. The owner offered a minimum rate for the job and told me the cost could be much higher depending on the work that needed to be done. We didn't know how long the repair would take so we opted to have him come out since we had a better idea of what we would be paying in the end. Both Kumar and his assistant wore masks, and I appreciated that they were willing to take off their shoes since we have some carpeting leading into the bathroom. Turns out my shower valve needed to be repaired. We were overtighting the valve when we shut off the water. It took him and his assistant about 45 minutes to repair the valve. We paid a reasonable price for the work that was done. Kumar is receptive to customer feedback and the customer experience is important to him. I would recommend his services.

Adding a second review in support of Kumar and his work following my initial review. I've had Kumar to my house twice since his first visit, both times he's been excellent. The first time was an emergency call to deal with an overflowing water issue in my bathroom that I came home to after a day out running errands. We had just been on the phone to set up an estimate for other work in my home and I called him back immediately seeing if he could stop by. Within 30 minutes on a Saturday evening, he was there, fixed the problem almost immediately, and then stayed longer to brainstorm next steps for addressing a larger plumbing issue he discovered in the basement.

Kumar came out again today to do a massive job on the main plumbing line in my house - replacement/upgrade of pipes from a very old system. He showed up early, the work was very well done, he fixed another problem that I had with the old piping in my basement, and was professional in every sense. The price was more than fair for the amount of work (especially considering the cost of goods these days) and I didn't have to worry about a thing.

And again - if the work wasn't already excellent work, Kumar is an exceptionally nice and direct person. I haven't had a problem talking out quotes and solutions to what I need to fix at my house, and that is really refreshing considering the runaround that other people have given me in the past. He was very thorough, explained to me the issue. then went out and purchased a garbage disposal from the hardware store and came back to install it for me. His pricing was very reasonable as well. Top notch work provided by Kumar and his team. I have had the problem with hot water to the washer for five years. After an hour long diagnosis, Kumar successfully identified the problem. While he is efficient, he is also clear in explaining how he works. He always noticed me of the possible situation ahead of action. Very trust worthy. Would give 10 star if I can.

Our garage disposal died and clogged the the p-trap so our kitchen sink wasn't draining. Kumar was super prompt and friendly when we contacted him. He was able to fit us in later in the day which was so appreciated because standing water and a non-functional kitchen sink is no fun in an apartment without AC in June!! Kumar does wonderful work. He was very responsive and fit us into his schedule quickly. In a word, Kumar is simply remarkable! Our sewage ejector pump in the basement was not working and I called Kumar -- he was extremely knowledgeable on the phone and suggested a few things to check. He was able to very kindly re-arrange his schedule and to stop by our house on the day of. Kumar requested photos of the pump and already stopped by the warehouse to pick up the identical one in case it needed to be replaced. He stayed for over 5 hours in our house and attempted to first help us get the old pump working (after removing some piping that had clogged the motor). The basement was extremely humid and Kumar was drenched in sweat, but he soldiered on and did everything to try to get things working for us. Although i was a bit outside of his normal service area he was able to rearrange his schedule and come on very short notice. Great reliable plumbing company. My tenant's bathroom faucet was leaking and there was water all over the floor. I called few plumbers and they said the whole faucet, sink and the plumbing system to the bathroom sink had to be replaced and wanted to charge me $100-$150 "inspection fee" prior to doing any work. I called Kumar and he came in within few hours of my call. Told me I just needed to change the faucet. Plumbing needed to be fixed up a little bit since the previous plumber I hired didn't even glue the pipes properly and the old piping system started leaking. Recommended against buying a new sink since the old sink was in good condition. Came in on time, did a great job, explained everything to me and left the place neat and clean. He is my go to plumber from now on.

I had an awesome experience getting our new dishwasher installed with Distinct Plumbing. I initially called a couple weeks back when our old dishwasher was making weird noises. They let me know that we'll need to get an appliance repairperson to take a look, but then took the time to call back later to see how the repair consultation went and gave us advice on how what we should or shouldn't spend on getting a repair vs. buying a whole new dishwasher. Fast forward two weeks, we ended up buying a new dishwasher. I called Distinct Plumbing at 9am on Monday morning and had a newly installed, perfectly functioning dishwasher by noon all at a very reasonable price. I would recommend these guys to anyone and will be calling them again for future plumbing needs!

I feel very lucky to have chosen to work with Kumar at Distinct Plumbing and Heating on three occasions. I originally called him for what I thought was a pipe leak. He showed this could not be the case. He hypothesized it was actually a cracked foundation. With my permission, he tested the hypothesis and located the exact place of water entry on the exterior of the house, as well as additional factors contributing to the amount of water (improper grade, poorly designed irrigation directed in this area under a stoop.) He used incredibly fair business practices in his work in my new home. He showed intelligence and ingenuity in working with another company in my home, educating them on the best approach to a complex problem on which they were both providing service. He educated the other company and me concerning his rationale and the risks involved with the less-favored approach. He went the extra step to call the other company to make sure that his approach would be acceptable to their technician for crack repair.
He managed to arrange his schedule to accommodate the other company's last-minute scheduling to fix the crack before further damage occurred. He then prioritized his return to reinstate our water supply. Among all of the excellent professionals with whom I have had the pleasure of working in the past, I have never dealt with any home service professional of this caliber and high ethical standards. There are plenty of nice people out there. He is also humane and highly ethical. He didn't price gauge when others would have seen a perfect opportunity.

They showed up the day i asked for the repair. Kumar quickly assessed the situation with my leaking tub/shower valve. He explained exactly what needed to be done and gave me a fair price. During the process of dismantling the valve, he would show me each piece that was defective and why it needed replacement. His brother was also on hand to assist him were needed and added his expertise as well. After replacing the parts that were needed and reassembling the valve, his brother stepped in to apply the silicone seal like an artist finishing a painting. They had me test the valve so i would feel the way it should properly move. They completed the job within the hour and were on their way.

Based upon the excellent reviews here on yelp, I contacted him and asked him to come to my home to access some minor issues involving probable eventual fixture replacement. He kept in contact with me until we could figure out a time to do an initial meet up. Upon meeting Kumar, I knew absolutely that he is an honest and genuine person. When we did a walk through he immediately identified and EXPLAINED to me some very major issues regarding split and corroded waste water pipes that should be addressed as soon as practical. He also made sound suggestions regarding the fixtures. He was very matter of fact and allowed me make the decisions as to what work should be done and when. Of course, we decided to take care of the pipes first. Distinct Plumbing has now completed three jobs for my wife and I. Each one has been done quickly, with great attention to quality. However, the job that really puts him absolutely above the rest was the emergency replacement of our water heater when it sprung a leak at 11:00 PM on a Friday. He was there by Saturday afternoon and within a couple of hours the unit was replaced. Distinct will always be our first choice for our plumbing needs.

Kumar has done several jobs for us ranging from outdoor water spigot bib replacement to redoing the bathroom plumbing at our sink to now replacing a broken pipe part that feeds into our boiler. After the recent below 0 temps hit Boston my water pipes froze and burst. Kumar was a very clear communicator who gave an estimate of when he could come to my place to look at the situation and quickly diagnosed and fixed the burst pipe. Following his service, I had a few other follow-up questions which he was able to kindly (and quickly) make time to answer which was extremely helpful and gave me some more peace of mind with our situation. A previous time, our water heater broke and Kumar was very quick to arrive and resolve the issue. He got the supplies and fixed the issue expeditiously and at a reasonable cost. He also pointed out and identified future potential issues and helped point us in the right direction to ensure we took care of that as well (clogged chimney). This is the 3rd time I've hired Kumar to do work at our place and I know I will be going back to him for any future issues I have.

We saw our water heater started to leak on Sunday. We saw Distinct Plumbing's high rating on Yelp and decided to give them a call. Kumar called back that Sunday with a few questions and a quote. He came early during the week to do the update. Everything went as planned including removing some out of zoning aspects of the old installation. Kumar was very informative and helpful. Very professional and enjoyable to work with.

Honest. Skilled. Patient. Gets the job done. At a recommendation from a friend, we called Kumar for help with our bathtub, and he not only fixed the problem we asked for, but predicted the next problem that would have happened if we had left it as-is, and took care of it at the same time. He's amazingly quick about getting necessary parts, listens to what you want, and you end up knowing more about the system you've got than when you started. Today - at the biggest cold snap, our heat went out, and he made the time for us, went way above and beyond to get the part, and got us up and running. Then, he made sure that we knew how to take care of any other issues that were happening because of the extreme cold. I cannot recommend Kumar enough - he's got the skills, the contacts, the speed, and apparently has the code memorized.

Recently I drained the furnace of dirty water and refilled with new water. The problem was that the washer on the refill faucet was so old that it stopped working, causing more water to enter the furnace. Every few hours I had to draining the water to alleviate the pressure and bring the water level down to a manageable level. Well after reading some reviews on line I called Distinct Plumbing and heating who could send someone out to see me the same day. When Kumar arrived I knew I was in good hands. All the reviews had nothing but positive things to say about Kumar. Well he looked at the issue and then noted a few irregularities with my heating system I was not aware of, that made the solution a little more complicated than I thought. We talked over a few options but ultimately I had to choose which option I was comfortable with. Well I decided to go with a water tank rather than put the hot water through the furnace. Kumar was great. He was able to arrange for the electrician to come in on Dec 23rd as well as get his work done on the 23rd so that I wouldnâ t have to worry about the furnace over the Christmas holidays. He called the next day to make sure I was happy with the work and contacted me a week later to make sure everything was still working out for me. I plan to use Distinct Plumbing a gain for a few more plumbing issues in the house.

Water Heater Installation and Replacement

Best plumber I've ever hired. Had a mason working on reinforcing the foundation and support columns in my basement, and one problematic column was right near the water heater. Distinct was able to work around the chaos in the basement and coordinate with the mason to disconnect and move the water heater on a tight schedule. And then the sink needed to be relocated for another column. He was able to reconnect the water heater and do the sink in one shot, really relieved me of some anxiety there. Distinct seems like the newer generation of plumbing contractors who know that in order to succeed they need to treat customers with respect, do excellent work, and not price gouge when they know you really need them. Excellent experience with distinct, I seriously hope they are available next time I need plumbing work, would not want to hire anyone else.

Our garage disposal died and clogged the the p-trap so our kitchen sink wasnâ t draining. Kumar was super prompt and friendly when we contacted him. He discussed our issue on the phone, gave us a quote up front, and helped troubleshoot over the phone to make sure we needed a plumber and not a drain company. He was able to fit us in later in the day which was so appreciated because standing water and a non-functional kitchen sink is no fun in an apartment without AC in June!! I feel very lucky to have chosen to work with Kumar at Distinct Plumbing and Heating on three occasions. I originally called him for what I thought was a pipe leak. He showed this could not be the case. He hypothesized it was actually a cracked foundation. With my permission, he tested the hypothesis and located the exact place of water entry on the exterior of the house, as well as additional factors contributing to the amount of water (improper grade, poorly designed irrigation directed in this area under a stoop.) He used incredibly fair business practices in his work in my new home. He showed intelligence and ingenuity in working with another company in my home, educating them on the best approach to a complex problem on which they were both providing service. He educated the other company and me concerning his rationale and the risks involved with the less-favored approach. He went the extra step to call the other company to make sure that his approach would be acceptable to their technician for crack repair. He managed to arrange his schedule to accommodate the other companyâ s last-minute scheduling to fix the crack before further damage occurred. He then prioritized his return to reinstate our water supply. Among all of the excellent professionals with whom I have had the pleasure of working in the past, I have never dealt with any home service professional of this caliber and high ethical standards. There are plenty of nice people out there. He is also humane. Oh, and he didnâ t price gauge when others would have seen a perfect opportunity.

I had an awesome experience getting our new dishwasher installed with Distinct Plumbing. I initially called a couple of weeks back when our old dishwasher was making weird noises. They let me know that we will need to get an appliance repair person to take a look but then took the time to call back later to see how the repair consultation went and gave us advice on how what we should or should not spend on getting a repair. Buying a whole new dishwasher, fast forward two weeks, we ended up buying a new dishwasher. I called Distinct Plumbing at 9 am on Monday morning and had a newly installed, perfectly functioning dishwasher by noon all at a very reasonable price. I would recommend these guys to anyone and will be calling them again for future plumbing needs.
